I'm trying to install Windows 7 on an old Dell PowerEdge 1800. It uses a XEON processor, 4G RAM, and four SCSI drives configured w/RAID 5.
When trying to install Windows 7 64bit an error stating no CD/DVD driver installed and asks me to locate drivers. From what i read Windows 7 requires a CD/DVD ROM w/SATA connection... thinking my CD/DVD ROM has IDE connection tried the Windows 7 32bit install... installation began however... now states no drives found... now I'm wondering if Windows 7 has problems with SCSI drives or RAID controllers.
Any ideas?
Also would prefer the 64bit install... if anyone has experience installing Windows 7 on a PowerEdge... let me know the steps to accomplish the task. Thanks
