I acquired a used Power Edge 2970 (ST=<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) with no software.
I have one Power Edge 2970 working now (acquired used from a friend for cheap and muddled through getting it up and running a year or 2 ago).
This 2nd one will boot both the 64b and 32b original Microsoft DVDs, but no matter which I boot I get stuck at "Install driver for CD/DVD" screen.
I've tried downloading the BROADCOM_HT1000-HT1100-CHIPS_A00_R234305.exe file, extracting to a folder, and burning the results on a CD, but the "browse" screen shows C:, D:, and X: with X: being populated (presumably ram disk) and both C: and D: prompt me to insert a disk after I already have.
I tried cloning the SSD from my 1st system (both connected on the internal SATA A port) and the cloned copy would not boot either and a system repair from the DVD wouldn't work..
I've been into computers for years, but am not a server guru (newbie!) and need some help here.
Thanks in advance,
Charley
